Wendy Morgan has been "hurrying hard" all her life. Wendy is world curling champion
coach and team leader. She has been recognized the world over for her coaching
knowledge. Locally, in 2000, the Burlington Curling Club recognized Wendy's
outstanding contribution to the sport of curling by presenting her with the Harry Clark
Award of Excellence. Wendy has been Cuding Canada manager and coached at both
Olympic and Paralympic levels. Successes at the Paralympic games are simply
spectacular; three gold medals; 2006 Torino, 2010 Vancouver, 2014 Sochi as well as 2
bronze, 2018 Pyeongchang, 2022 Beijing. She was preparing for another Paralympic
run in 2015, when a phone call from Jennifer Jones had a profound impact on her
coaching career.
As a result of Wendy's successes on the global stage she clearly caught the attention of
one of the best curlers in Canadian history - Jennifer Jones. Among her successes with
Jennifer Jones were two Scotties Tournament gold medals, plus a bronze medal at the
Scotty Tournament of Hearts, one World Championship silver medal, and one Gold world
Championship medal.
Other achievements include; two womens world championships, 2015 silver, 2018
gold; in 2015 Wendy was awarded the Petro Canada Coaching Excellence Award, and
in 2018 awarded the Joan Mead Builder Award, in recognition of Wendy's contribution
to the growth and development of women's curling in Canada. Culminating 2018 by
being awarded Canadian Sports Award - the prestigious Team of the Year (Coach of
team Jennifer Jones)
A graduate of the National Coaching lnstitute and a level 4 NCCP Coach, Wendy also
has instructional experience at curling camps in Canada, Germany, and Czech Republic
and it was at some of these camps that Wendy connected with Jones.
Jennifer Jones was quoted, 'When we put together the list of people we thought could
help take our team to the next Olympics, Wendy was at the top of our list. and we were
just absolutely thrilled that she agreed. "She is one of the nicest people you're ever
going to come across. She's organized, smart, she's great technically and she's had so
much experience - she brings a different perspective to our team, which is always
great to have."
